Amazon for Windows Phone
My task was to resolve an issue with Amazon users using Windows phone in the international market. During this time, Amazon was expanding rapidly and had limited talent to hire in a short amount of time for a short period of time. And since I had lived overseas, perhaps I could provide insight.
The main issue found was that when new members signed up for an Amazon account outside of the United states, they were provided a “US PARCEL” input form. So when users spent the time entering all of their information (email address, shipping and billing address, etc) they were presented with “choose country” button. Once a user tapped onto this button, all the information that the user had inputted was deleted, forcing users to re-enter their billing, shipping, etc information. Basically, the user gave up.
Simply resolved with the given technology in 2013 was to first present the user with a country selection. From then, we could determine what type of postal information would satisfy the user’s country zip code.
