Flash Map (Amu Mobile)

The iPhone was released in 2007. The standalone Google Map app was available for download for iPhone in 2012. My Flash Map was launched in 2004…8 years before interactive Google Maps launched!  I had conceptualized, researched, developed, designed and launched to the Japanese market! Amu Mobile and I were extremely happy to have created this Flash Lite 1.0 (Macromedia Flash) so much that we patented it (digital map controlled by keypresses).

Flash Map is the world’s first interactive, dynamic, GPS-enabled map for the mobile device before iPhone and Google Map app was ever known. It utilized pre-embedded Flash Lite 1.0 (5 mb limit) and native controls on Japanese feature phones such as Fujitsu, Casio and Sony devices. The company I was working with, Amu Mobile, and I marketed this app immensely to the Japanese public. Over 1-million Japanese mobile device owners were using this app, navigating their way to bars, restaurants, beauty salons, hotels and other stores 2-3 years before the first iPhone was released.

I still keep this accomplishment close to my heart as it being the world’s first interactive, dynamic, GPS-enabled map for mobile devices in 2004 🙂
