Samsung VUI

This was my first opportunity to work on VUI (Voice User Interaction) though it was for a short contract. Recruited by an agency, I was asked to resolve an experience where users would use their voices to control the music app which was native to Samsung devices. Also integrated was an “emotion feature” where a user would ask the Samsung device, “I’m feeling happy. Play me a song”. The songs which users had on their Samsung account identified particular songs via ID3 meta tags (sad, happy, etc were added at the end of the ID3 tags) that were related with users’s emotions. The results of this feature was phenominal and other companies began to catch on.

As this technology gained a lot of attention, the agency was then bought by Nuance.
